Using the free version as self employed, Wordfence is really effectively securing the site.

Could we start getting commissions on future orders we do through our account once we apply and become approved as an affiliate? Or would our customer need to sign up directly at Wordfence through our affiliate link? How exactly does this service work? Also, does this retroactively apply to previously owned licenses? Or just new ones after sign up is complete?

Hi there,
A few answers to this question:
You can not be an affiliate for your own orders. In other words, you can't sign up for the program, then buy Wordfence and expect to be paid a commission for your own order.
Your customer would need to sign up directly on Wordfence through the affiliate link.
Nothing is applied retroactively - although now that I've explained how you can't be an affiliate for your own orders I this this question becomes a moot point.
Please note that if you do want to buy licenses in bulk outside of the affiliate program, we offer substantial discounts for volume purchases. This can work in an agency setting where the agency is buying the licenses themselves, therefore can't use the affiliate program, but do want to benefit from a discount on Wordfence.

As a web designer, I use Wordfence for all my clients sites.
I do have a question.
Is the fee apply only for new subscriptions or this it also aply to subscriptions that are being renewed after each year?

Hi Geert, thanks for your interest. The affiliate commission is earned for new sales only. But to put the opportunity in perspective, we have around 130,000 paying customers using Premium, Care or Response, and over 5 million free customers. So in addition to recruiting new users, there is a huge existing install base our affiliates can tap into and every conversion you achieve (converting a free user to paid) earns you $50.
