We’re hiring

Updated November 20th, 2014. We’re looking for talented, motivated team members to fill the following roles. Please keep in mind our focus is on finding great people rather than exactly filling a role as we’ve defined it. So if you are interested in working for us but have a slightly different skill-set, you’re welcome to send us your resume.

Please send all resumes and applications to hr@wordfence.com.

In general Wordfence will hire you on a short term paid contract of between 5 and 10 hours per week to evaluate if there’s a culture fit. If you enjoy working with us and we feel the same way, then we will explore a longer term commitment if you are interested.

All positions are remote. That means you will be working wherever you like and interacting with the rest of the team using email, skype and our internal tools. We keep a flexible schedule and we try to keep meetings to a minimum and let our team do what they’re good at and focus on their work.

Our focus is on having fun doing what we love with great team members.

Senior PHP Developer

We’re looking for a senior PHP developer with the following skills:

  • OO code design, maintenance and implementation

  • Basic ops skills including linux, apache, nginx and mysql systems administration.

We’re looking for someone to be our head of user experience. You will care deeply about improving our customer experience from first touch to last touch with the goal of delighting our customers. Skills we’re looking for:

  • Experience with Google Analytics to analyze existing user behavior and experience.
  • A deep understanding of user psychology and how to create that Apple “unboxing experience”.
  • Hands-on design skill and the ability to create and implement a user-interface.
  • Ability to design UI elements in Illustrator/Photoshop/Fireworks or similar.
  • CSS and HTML5
  • Javascript is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to carve up a conceptual design and implement it as HTML/CSS and work closely with PHP and javascript devs to create the dynamic components required.
  • Sales funnel analysis and design improvement with a focus on improving conversion.
  • Understanding of AB testing and ability to implement it collaborating with technical team members.
  • A focus on gathering data from our customers on customer experience, perception and ways to improve the customer experience and product.
  • The ability and passion to create beauty and customer delight.

Customer Service Representative

Do you love working with website administrators and helping them solve challenging security problems and to better understand Wordfence? Then we’d love to have you on our team. The job requirements are:

  • A passion for creating customer delight through excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work with customers on our support forum and our ticketing system.
  • Understanding of WordPress, plugins, themes and how to administer WordPress.
  • Knowledge of Apache configuration including .htaccess

[Your talents, skills and passion here]

This final role is for that person we haven’t met yet, who’s skills we haven’t defined and who is passionate about working in the information security space and wants to be part of our team. If you don’t fit into any of the roles above, but feel you can make a valuable contribution to Wordfence and would love to join us, please send us your resume and a description of the role you would like and we’d love to have a conversation with you.

  • I really like your products, I have been using the free versions for a few weeks now. I'm open to a few consulting hours a week, have my own business. Been running small hosting farms for 20 years. Developed database driven websites for as long. I am a fisherman, trout mostly, salmon in AK when I can afford. Love sockeyes, mmmmm. Oh, work, right. Building out, hosting web servers for 20 years. Windows first, Linux as well past year. A bit of a security buff. No host farm has been hacked on my watch. Shhh, don't attract extra traffic. Love fail2ban and have tied it into Wordfence logging in error_log. You can have it free, I haven't paid for your products yet, consider it a thank you.

fail2ban is a wonderful lightweight sort of anti-intrusion application for Linux servers. It covers a lot of mistakes made by users in shared hosting environments. It's working great alongside Wordfence.

I know a little of this, a little of that. PHP, Java, Coldfusion, Regex, Perl, etc. I have been called upon by Fortune 500 companies to brainstorm intrusions and intrusion attempts. DDoS mitigation (up to a point, depends how big the attack).

Let me know if you want fail2ban apache-wordfence.conf. It's super lightweight and takes pressure off of PHP service. I don't know if you are familiar with fail2ban but using this filter along side the recidive filter is a nice slap down on bots.
